Women’s fashion is obviously directed at women, which is probably the most obvious statement there is. What is not so obvious is that women’s fashion affects these same women’s children. Children see and hear more than what they are given credit for. Women should not let children dictate their lives, but they should be careful on what they say and how they act, even on something like fashion.
Children imitate their parents, especially their mothers. So, those women whose main goal in life is to have the most fashionable stuff, they might be teaching their children to never be satisfied with what they have or who they are. It is alright to want to be fashionable, just don’t let it be the main priority in your life.
One can teach kids to look good and to take care of themselves without it taking over their life. Women who don’t know how to set aside a budget for clothes are teaching their kids to be wasteful. To see what size shoe you need you need to have your foot measured by a sales clerk at a local shoe store when you are buying shoes. Some people might have a foot that is bigger than the other so they have to buy two separate shoes for the cost of both. Sometimes shoes that you wear are a size 12 but in other sizes may be a size 10 this is just because of the different style in the shoes. Shoes will most likely differ in size and shape from different brands to brands.
Each country has its own way of foot measurements. These include the millimeter (mm), the centimeter (cm, which equals 10 mm), the Paris point, which equals 2/3 cm, which in turn equals 6.67 mm, and lastly, the Barleycorn, which equals 1/3 inch and according to the metric system is 8.47 mm. In the U K and Australia shoe size is determined by the length of the portion of the shoe called the last, which is measured in barleycorns but minus a constant. The same constant is used for men in these countries but different ones are used for women’s shoes.
In the United States and Canada the shoe size is that as we know of it. So we do not wear the same size as women and children I don’t think anyone ever did. If you have feet that are wide or narrow finding the right shoes can be an arduous task. I should know, not only do I have wide feet but from being a bodybuilder for over 30 years I have also created an issue for finding clothes to fit right due to being larger than the average gorilla!
You don’t have to go to the extreme of having shoes custom made to get the proper fit. With the internet it is now easier than ever before to find the correct shoe for your foot. People with narrow or wide feet do not have to settle for shoes that don’t fit anymore. Online, you can actually find vendors who sell nothing but odd size shoes for those with wide or narrow feet.
Many people think that the issue of wide feet is primarily a problem for men but this is not the case. Women have the problem as well. It is sometimes easier for women to deal with the issue of wider feet however due to the large array of sandals and strapped shoes available to them.
While men may not have as large a selection as women there are many merchants that specialize in shoes for men with narrow or wide feet in dress shoes, casual shoes as well as athletic footwear. You will also be pleasantly surprised to find that the prices aren’t as high as you would think for such specialty items. If you are the parent of a teenager you are already painfully aware of their need to be on top of the latest fashions and fads. It is like a competition with them on who has the latest fashion apparel and who does not. At the same time, it is our job as parents to be sure that this doesn’t go too far, especially in light of the fads that are out today. We have all seen the boys fashions that have them wearing pants that are way too big and showing their boxers and with girls we see tight low cut tops that are so short that their belly buttons show. In my opinion these are totally inappropriate for young teens and I see girls as young as 12 dressed this way.
If you are like me your first thought will probably be to get upset and say something like, “The only way you are wearing that is over my dead body”, of course it is totally your right to do so but you may end up causing a rift between you and your teen. If you take a moment to think back to what it was like when you were a teen you will probably remember that you hated being told what to wear by your own parents and that you swore you wouldn’t be the same, yet here you are. Maybe we need to be a little more subtle about it.
With girls in particular the wearing of these new style fads could end up exposing them to harm which is one way to approach them about it. Let them know that there are many sexual predators out there who may get the wrong idea from them when they are wearing the low cut tops and jeans that are leaving them exposed. For many girls this should be enough to make them tone it down a little, the idea of some old guy wanting them will totally gross them out.
