I have only raised boys and have therefore only had to worry about buying things like baseball and football equipment but my brother has a daughter and I have helped him with a few things for her, including helping him find ballet shoes for her when she first began taking ballet. Of course there are some boys taking ballet as well, mine would never have done it but Arnold Schwarzenegger took ballet to help him with his bodybuilding competitions and I doubt very seriously if anyone ever teased him about it!
