A great summer resort with the fashion for sea bathing

This tracks the beginning of the process of change from the last third of the nineteenth century and demonstrates, with a varied and profuse documentation and a remarkable graphic device, such transformations are already largely crystallized after the First World War in the twenties of the last century.

The conditions for such changes should they occur were, first, that part of the population luanquina available, with the reduction of working hours, greater free time to devote to leisure, and, secondly, that for to practice it enjoyed a higher living standard and educational material.

The engine that should give these material conditions Luanco was the conversion of a major summer entertainment center as, from the last decades of the nineteenth century, is emerging and spreading to the middle of the new bourgeois society custom of the sea baths, a consequence of the new mindset and a different hygienist, almost antithetical to the traditional “conception of understanding the relationship between man and nature.

The emergence of such a space for leisure with the opening in 1890 on the beach at the Bank of a spa and a bathhouse, The Rosary, symbolizes more than any other institution in the conversion of Luanco summer resort. The spa was developed until its closure in 1917, a major recreational and cultural activity not only for the large colony of summer residents, among whom were the important people in regional and national life, but also for the population itself Luanco. Being Green Doesn’t Mean You Can’t Be Fashionable!

Ok, Ok, I know, everyone has to chip in. After all, we all live on this planet, right? So honestly, I don’t mind the recycling every object that comes into my home. I don’t mind all the sorting and bins and the 245 different brand numbers on the bottom of plastic items. I don’t mind the chemical deprived household cleaners that seem to work OK and smell a lot nicer. I don’t mind the smaller model car that has; gasp and count them, four cylinders although I will admit to missing my big block Chevy.

My point is I am trying. I can buy organic with the best of them, I watch my energy and water usage and count my carbon footprints. I consciously try to reduce my garbage and I and filter my water too. I can reuse plastic bags and buy swirly looking light bulbs. However there is one “green” issue I just can not abide by. I’m talking about those ugly re-usable shopping bags. I mean, whose idea was that, and why do they have to be so darn ugly?

There is no way in heaven I’m gonna walk around with a ugly colorless store branded re-usable shopping bag over my arm. I have to draw the line somewhere and that is it. No way am I going to pair my beautiful shoes, vintage purse and designer outfit with a faded green looking canvas bag, even if it is just from the store out to the car and then in side to the kitchen. Gosh darn, doesn’t someone have to stop and say enough! (more…)

Get The Best Dressing Hints From Fashion Magazines

One of the important factors of a fashion magazine is that it helps to determine why certain materials are used for certain styles. You will find that two or more materials are used at times in styling an outfit. A wise designer planning an outfit for herself will not be inclined towards a material simply because she likes the texture and the fall of the material. This is where fashion magazines help you to select the right kind of material for the design of your choice.

While designing a garment, certain materials are used for certain sections of the garment and not simply whatever may catch your fancy. For example crepes are manufactured to be used for clinging styles and not fluffed up designs. Materials such as taffetas, organdies and crisp batistes are used in suit styles where fluffs are involved, as against the crepes, which are used for the clinging styles. A very important point to be observed is that fabrics are designed to suit styles and styles to suit fabrics.

What Does Alternative Clothing Actually Mean

How can you define alternative clothing? Surely, what is normal for one person would probably go down as alternative clothing in another person’s book. Stick ‘alternative clothing’ into a search engine and many of the sites listed will be for goth, emo or punk clothing so I guess, in the main, these would be considered alternative.

But alternative to what, or who? To a goth or emo, their clothing is normal. To my gran it would be laughable, to her gran it would have been a sign that you were ready for the funny farm. Yet today we have a world with an ‘anything goes’ attitude so you can walk down any high street in the country and see people dressed as chavs, Goths, punks, man from C & A, or walking floral creations that are usually someone’s grandmother.

You see, the problem is that as people get older, there are less of them. In turn, this means they are in the minority so surely that would make them the ones in the alternative clothing?

To me, alternative clothing would mean my going out on the town in my PJ’s, which I’ve always thought would be a good thing seeing as I’ve never subscribed to the fashion over function club. In fact, last time I went out to a nightclub, I swear some of those girls were wearing their night dresses! Yes, I know, that makes me sound old but I really don’t care, they are going to catch their deaths dressed like that! (more…)

Hair Huggers, Clips and Pins: Centuries of Trying to Keep Hair Up

The rudimentary concept of holding one’s hair up goes back centuries ago. However it’s not the base concept of keeping long hair out of your business, face, high-speed hydraulic machinery and the like, but it’s for fashion as well.

It probably started with the hairpin and developed to the hair clip. Archaeologists have old hairpins that date back as far as 600 B.C. They postulate that is probably went further back, but what museums have on hand that resembles closest to the pins we sell today, that are some of the oldest physical evidence in historical proof. With ancient hairpins there really isn’t much difference between their styles, except that some of them were from carved wood. The metal ones are similar, and keep a slight barb near the tip from falling out.

The less ubiquitous, and possibly more ancient, the hair comb is another accessory that grew out of function and into fashion. The Romans, Greeks, and dozens of Persian and Middle Eastern ancients produced beautiful hair combs with elaborate carvings in wood and bone that are commonly found in archaeological digs all over Europe and Asia. How To Get The Designer Wear Without The Designer Price Tag

A flick through the glossies will tell you that the fashion trend for this year is ‘big’. Everything has to be on an unprecedented scale. Huge designer sunglasses, huge handbags, huge, chunky jewellery – anything, as long as it’s big.

I have my own personal view on this. Stick thin celebrities are living miserable lives on lettuce leaves and low calorie water. Maybe if they drown themselves in huge items in the name of fashion, they can eat a little more without having a ‘fat’ day?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not jealous. I like my food and I’m happy to admit it. Starving makes me grumpy and not a nice person to be around. At the same time, I have no desire to don designer sunglasses that make me look like a fly on speed or to carry a bag that would see Mary Poppins green with envy.

Even for those that are slaves to the fashion world, that think their whole persona hangs on whether or not they have the latest designer sunglasses or designer shoes, this is not an easy lifestyle to keep up. It usually belongs to those that are either fabulously wealthy or fabulously in debt for it.

Parents succumb to pressure from their children to keep up with current trends for fashion, accessories and technological gadgets when their children are very young. This is due to so much advertising being aimed at them. If you limit the amount of TV they watch, they will still bow to peer pressure and harass their parents into buying the latest must have.

However, recent studies show that children who fall prey to this culture of material competitiveness are more prone to depression and other mental health problems. They need to be encouraged to understand their value does not hinge on whether or not they have the latest electronic game, designer jeans or designer sunglasses, but on the person within.

For the older ones who have full control of their own finances and some disposable income, keeping up with latest trends can be a cripplingly expensive hobby. High street stores, despite providing good quality clothing and top fashions, are not good enough for these dedicated followers of fashion. It has to be designer – designer shoes, designer handbag, designer sunglasses.

Whether your shoes cost you 845 pounds from Manilo Blahnik or 24.99 pounds from Tesco, they are still going to be out of fashion next season. If you’re wearing 150 pounds Prada designer sunglasses this summer or the 14.99 pounds Top Shop version, who can tell? Only those who are equally enslaved to the must have culture. The question is: can you afford to throw this type of money away every few months?

A growing trend among the uber fashion conscious is an arrangement of shared designer gear. Whether it be designer clothes, designer sunglasses or designer shoes, groups of young friends are clubbing together to amass a wardrobe that would make any celebrity jealous at a fraction of the cost.

Of course, for this system to work, there has to be a great deal of trust involved. It is sensible for the friends to either live together or near each other so all are within easy reach of the much needed item. There needs to be some type of system in place to determine who uses what, when. And, of course, they need to be of a similar size unless they are thinking of just pooling resources accessories.

The groups that have implemented this system shout its virtues loud and clear. They claim that although they have different tastes, this encourages all of them to try new styles. They are also more inclined to take better care of the items and it can mean savings of thousands of pounds per month, where they would normally buy the same designer outfits individually.

It means the same group of friends will never commit that dreadful fashion faux par of turning up in the same outfit and, even if they’re out of season very quickly, at least they were purchased at a fraction of the cost to each person.

Expert buyer Catherine Harvey looks at the expensive trend for designer sunglasses and how to make it affordable. To find out more please visit http://www.site91.co.uk/

Looking For Jewelry Travel Boxes?

Taking good care of your jewelry starts with proper keeping. There are some damages -particularly scars- you can cause by giving less care when it comes to- on where you put the pieces when they are not in use. Aside from the risks you can get from theft or of losing them, you are letting your jewelries to be exposed to many elements that could lessen their luster or cause irreversible impurities.

With that, it is essential to have something that can be used for this keeping. A jewelry box gives important part of collecting jewelry. It can help you to organize or arrange the pieces. For instance, putting pointed metal-based pieces in a compartment separate from the precious stones to avoid scratches or chips.

Selecting A Jewelry Box

When selecting a jewelry box, design and its price may be among your first considerations. However, it is of great importance also that you consider how the material of the box will react with your jewelry. For instance, wood reacts with silver, causing it to tarnish. To make this problem solved, wooden boxes must have a lining or cover, usually velvet.

A jewelry box may come in different materials like paper, plastic, metal or wood. Of these materials, wood is the one choice for elegant pieces. The classic look of handcrafted hardwoods like mahogany, maple, elm, and cherry, makes the beauty of the jewelry pieces more admirable. The boxes often have solid brass or gold-plated hinges, locks, and knobs to complete the magnificent look. (more…)
