Fashion On A Budget

Keeping up with the latest trends in apparel can make a dent in your wallet if you are not extra careful about what you buy. Impulse purchases as well contribute to the exorbitant bills you have on your credit card. It is very important that you be a smart shopper. You have to learn how to control your expenses in order that you will not fall into deep debt and you can achieve financial freedom.

Contrary to what other people may think, you can still achieve a fashionable look even if you are on a tight budget or even when you are broke. If you are the type who can’t get out of a mall without bringing home something even if it is just a t-shirt, it is high time that you get your creative juices working. With a bit of imagination, ingenuity and resourcefulness, you can still look your striking best even if you only have a minimal amount of money to spare for fashion.

Designer brands can cause a lot and if you can’t afford it don’t bother to make a purchase using your credit card. You’ll just be regretting it once your billing arrives. You can always get the same look as those you see on the runway for lesser the amount if you know where to look and you know how to improvise.

Promotional sales can help you save on your purchases. But you can save a lot on hard-core sales that offer discounts ranging from 50% even up to 80% off where you can buy the clothes at almost the cost it was acquired by the retailer. Learn to pass up on enticing offers like those that only offer 10-15% off. Wait for the big sales where you can get super-duper savings.

Try to control that shopping desire in you by going on a “shopping diet.” Do it gradually. Like dieting where a person for example does not eat sweets and carbs, there may come a time when the desire wells up that the individual simply binges. This can as well similarly happen to shopping. You can control your shopping by setting for example a maximum amount that you can spend on a month on clothes, shoes, etc. Of course, don’t go beyond the budgeted amount you have set.

If you are comfortable with the idea and perfectly okay to have friends wear your clothes, then you can swap clothes or borrow from friends to update your look without costing you any necessary purchases.

Check also second hand shops, discount outlets, garage sales or flea markets that are possible sources of great buys at a fraction of the cost. This is not guaranteed though but who knows if you are patient enough to scope out the racks you may find a good buy.

If you know how to sew, you can always make your own outfits or turn old outfits into new ones with a bit of creativity and some twists like maybe ruffles on an old mini skirt, bows or beads on a simple tank top, etc. It all boils down to your creativity.
